Lucky Star. I can’t type this title with anything less than a great fondness in my heart. This anime was a wonder to behold and I enjoyed every second. I didn’t even have the typical loss of interest halfway through as I do with many anime. This anime transcends the average and sours up to Princess Tutu and FMAB status for me. I giggled, I sniffled, and I grinned. This anime is a great piece of comfort food for the Otaku in all of us, with its endless references and inside jokes. If I can make my love any more clear to you, I had no hesitations about reviewing this anime (unlike Blue Exorcist, which fell victim to laziness syndrome). Read on for more gushing! Continue reading

Vision of Escaflowne Review

The Vision of Escaflowne Limited Edition box set, released in North America by Bandai Entertainment on July 23, 2002 (Photo credit: Wikipedia)
I had quite a few expectations for Vision of Escaflowne because my roommate loves it so very much. She made me wait to watch it until I had seen quite a few others on her list because it is one of her favorites. The nice thing is that I wasn’t disappointed at all. This anime is really wonderful and I didn’t see any flaws that could indicate its age. I really enjoyed this anime and would recommend it to both shoujo and shounen viewers, even if they are like me and tend to watch newer series. This show is still noticeably original despite everything else that is out there. Read on for more! Continue reading

ToraDora! Review

Cover art of the first DVD compilation released by King Records, featuring main characters Ryūji Takasu and Taiga Aisaka (Photo credit: Wikipedia)
I have finally completed ToraDora! leaving me with only 4 anime on my list of shoujo series to watch. I wasn’t sure how I would feel about this show, but I ended up liking it quite a lot. I wouldn’t say it is super different or a game-changer, but it is certainly quite good. I really enjoyed this anime and it didn’t drag at all. It was quite addicting and I ended up watching it very quickly. Both the plot and characters are unique enough to pull the show out ahead of other shoujo anime I have watched and I became very attached to what was happening. Read on to learn about ToraDora!. Azumanga Daioh Review

Azumanga Daioh (Photo credit: Wikipedia)
Azumanga Daioh is the third anime I’ve completed off of my shoujo anime list and it was quite good. I’ve never really watched anything like this show before. It is completely all over the place, but in an extremely pleasant way. I found myself laughing out loud a lot during this show and being quite touched at other times. This anime is great to watch because it is so relaxing and utterly unique. It takes so many aspects of an average life and makes them unique and special while still allowing you to relate to them. I enjoyed this show a lot because I have never seen anything like it.

Durarara!! Review

I started Durarara!! on a whim because I read a bit of the manga adaptation and wanted more of the story. I am also in the middle of watching a bunch of shoujo anime and it is very hard for me to watch a bunch of shoujo in a row. I always need a bit of action to break things up. Regardless, this anime was a perfect choice. I enjoyed Durarara!! so much, it is definitely one of my favorite anime now. The show was completely consuming and I couldn’t stop watching. I would recommend this anime to anyone, regardless of whether you are into romance, action, or a good mystery. Durarara!! pleases everyone. Continue reading

Baccano! Review
Recently my roommate and I realized that although we talked about anime constantly, neither of us had ever watched a series together for some reason. Of course we decided to fix this problem by choosing and anime to watch and fangirl over together. Baccano! became that anime, and I’m very glad we watched it. This anime series is very good and I really enjoyed watching it. It was also beneficial to watch it with another person because it could get confusing and violent and it was helpful for me to be able to discuss the plot. I would recommend this anime to those who love a good plot and piece of art. If you like series like Durarara! I think you will really like this anime as well. Read on for my thoughts! The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya
The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya is my second completed anime in my shoujo anime project after Madoka and I enjoyed it quite a bit. I really wasn’t sure what to think at first because this show is really strange, but I really ended up enjoying it after I got into it. I would recommend it to anime lovers because it isn’t your typical series, it has those slice of life elements as well as a really crazy setting. Continue reading

Eden of the East Review
Eden of the East is a fairly short anime that is very enjoyable. I watched it near the end of last year and finished it quite quickly. The story and characters are interesting and the plot is fairly unique. I also really liked the animation, although the ending was a bit unsatisfying. I would recommend it for those looking for something interesting that doesn’t take too much time to complete. Continue reading

Princess Tutu Review
If I had to choose a shoujo anime that would rival my love for Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood, Princess Tutu would be the one. This anime is absolutely wonderful, and the storytelling is unrivaled. The characters are complex and interesting, the story is compelling, and the art and music is well-fitted. I have watched this anime multiple times because it is so good, and I am reviewing it because I love it so much even though it is a bit older. Anyone who likes any sort of anime or a great story will love Princess Tutu. Continue reading

Darker Than Black Review
I discovered Darker Than Black in my recommendations in Netflix last summer. I started it to try to fill the void filled by my finishing Bleach and ended up liking it quite a bit. The story is pretty interesting, if not a bit difficult to understand at first because of all the complex terms. I enjoyed this anime while I watched it, and would recommend it to those who like sci-fi, mystery, and action (and something short, it only 2 seasons). Continue reading
