The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks Review

I wasn’t particularly excited to read this book because it was a requirement for a class I am taking, but I enjoyed it a lot more than I anticipated.  The book has been on and off the indie bestseller list for at least a year and I understand why.  It tells a compelling story of a woman who was completely unrecognized for a great contribution for decades.  The book was quite interesting and I think it should be read because the subject matter affects us all.  No one can or should ignore the things that Henrietta Lacks has done for us.

Sacré Bleu Review

I have always been a huge fan of Christopher Moore ever since I read his book Lamb.  This book is one of my all time favorites and I have really enjoyed most of Moore’s other novels.  His most recent book has been on the New York Times Bestseller list for several weeks, and is called Sacré Bleu. I really enjoyed this novel and Moore proved to me another time how little the subject matter of his books affects how interested I will be.  Let’s just say that I was not fascinated with the French impressionists before I read this book.

Quiet Review

I was instantly drawn to this book because I have always defined myself as a complete introvert.  I am definitely that girl who would rather stay home and read on a Friday night instead of going to a party.  This book is an absolutely fascinating look into the lives of introverts in an extrovert world and I think it was a long time coming.  Cain writes with  a deliberate passion that lets me know that she truly cares about this subject.  This book has given me many revelations about my behavior that can help me in my future. Clockwork Prince Review

I have always been a big fan of the Mortal Instruments books by Cassandra Clare, so when my friends suggested her second series, the Infernal Devices, I was eager to read them.  These books, the first of which is called Clockwork Angel, are just as good as the Mortal Instruments books.  All of Clare’s books are very exciting and quick reads.  They are set in our world, but with the addition of people called Shadowhunters, who control the world’s vast population of magical and mythical creatures.  I really enjoyed Clockwork Prince, the second book in the trilogy, and eagerly await the release of the third book, entitled Clockwork Princess. Geek Girls Unite Review

I received this book for Christmas and I have finally gotten around to reviewing it.  The book was fairly enjoyable and I liked reading it, although it has several flaws I would like to point out.  I think it is a valuable read to any “geek” or “nerd” girl because there are a lot of really good things in here.  I applaud Ms. Simon for going for it in this book, even though she missed the mark at times. Howl’s Moving Castle (Novel) Review

I enjoyed this novel to the fullest.  I chose to read it last summer before I watched the movie, but let it fall to the wayside sadly (I also shamefully have not seen the movie yet).  I regret having waited so long, because this book was so extremely enjoyable.  I started it last Saturday night at around midnight and finished it Monday around two AM.  I hope this expresses what a fast read this book is.  The great thing is that I was entertained the whole time.  The book was not a fast read because it was simple, young, or boring.  It was wonderful to read in every way and I highly recommend it for all readers. Love Among the Walnuts Review

I was given this book by one of my friends who really enjoyed it.  I was really pleased with it, especially because it wasn’t on my list of books I wanted to read soon.   The book is simply adorable, sweet, and wonderful.  It is a real feel-good book, but that won’t make you enjoy it any less.  It is not simple and meaningless, it is just really enjoyable to read. The Perks of Being a Wallflower

I must confess that I decided to read this book because of the upcoming movie with Logan Lerman, my self-proclaimed celebrity husband.  Despite this motivation I was extremely glad that I read this book in general.  I really hope the movie can live up to it because it is supremely beautiful and a wonderful read.
