Faster Than a Kiss Review

Faster than a Kiss

I started this manga a while back as part of my manga suggestions and I quite enjoyed it.  I didn’t realize that it was close to ending when I caught up to the new chapters.  This series was an enjoyable read and the ending was quite nice.  I still found quite a few of the elements of this series disappointing, mostly the main character, Fumino Kaji.  I can reference my other reviews to remind you that I love a strong female protagonist, and Fumino just wasn’t doing it for me.  Regardless the manga was still an enjoyable read with some nice characters.   Continue reading

High School Debut Review

High School Debut

High School Debut (Photo credit: Wikipedia)

I picked up High School Debut as part of my strong heroines manga project and I wasn’t disappointed with it.  Several of the manga I have read for this project had either weaker heroines or weak writing, but this series was different.  I enjoyed every single chapter of it.  The manga was about 50 chapters, just long enough to be satisfying and just short enough to stay interesting.  I really enjoyed this manga because it was unique while still retaining the elements of shoujo manga that make me love it.  I recommend this manga to any type of shoujo reader because it has something for everyone, including humor and a wonderful love story.  Read on for details. Hana Kimi Review

I started this manga as part of my strong heroines project and it did not disappoint.  I really ended up loving it, probably a lot more than I expected to.  The drawing style is a bit different and so I wasn’t sure if I would like the series.  Needless to say, it was very good, so good in fact that I read it in about 3 days.  I’m pretty good at marathoning manga series and this one was definitely worth it.  I would rank it closely alongside my favorites, including Skip Beat! and Ouran High School Host Club.  I recommend this manga wholeheartedly to all shoujo lovers.  Read on for my opinions. Update: School is Out!

Hey followers, I know it has been a while, but things were really busy with dead week and finals.  I’ve had a lot of things I wanted to update on but I couldn’t find the time to write until now.  School is finally over and I can write whenever I want!  I made it through my freshman year and managed to keep my GPA up which seemed like quite a miracle!  I’m excited for all my summer projects and being able to have time to read and do all the things I want to.  I’ll go ahead and give some details on what’s coming up for me this summer! Ouran High School Host Club Manga Review

I absolutely love this manga, and I want to review it even though it has been done for awhile.  I watched the anime first, and it was actually the first anime I watched other the Naruto when I first got into anime.  I loved it and couldn’t stop laughing out loud, and because the ending was less than satisfactory for me, I decided to read the manga.  Needless to say, I was wonderfully satisfied with the ending of the manga and enjoyed reading every single chapter.  The comedy and drama are superior and it is generally good storytelling which I think makes it an appealing read to all readers, whether they like primarily shoujo or shonen manga.

Extravagant Challenge Review

I can’t really classify this as a movie, anime, or manga review, so I guess I’m making a new category for show reviews (I probably won’t have ratings up on the main page unless I do a lot more).  Extravagant Challenge deserves a review because of all the entertainment it has given me.  The show ran 15 episodes and was one of the most entertaining shows I have ever watched.  My roommate  and I watched most of the show together and had a super fun time.  I discovered the show myself when I was perusing the Skip Beat tag on tumblr and discovered that a live-action drama was being made of the manga called Extravagant Challenge.  When the show started, I fell in love with it and couldn’t stop watching.  There are many reasons for my love of this show, which I will get into below. MeruPuri Review

MeruPuri was a manga that I accidentally discovered in my local used book store when I was just looking around.  The premised seems a bit ridiculous, but it had just the right formula to be interesting and keep me reading.  It wasn’t until later that I realized that this manga shared an artist with another manga I really like, Vampire Knight.  The manga was overall very enjoyable to read while it lasted, as it is only about 25 chapters. Updates on Life and Entertainment

Hey guys!  It’s been a pretty stressful week, which is why I’m glad it’s almost over.  I had to write a six page essay that I thought was supposed to be three pages so that sucked, but now I’m done!  I was fairly frustrated with this paper because I’m in a Shakespeare class and my teacher told us to just pick whatever we wanted to write about.  This is annoying to me because it makes everything so broad.  I eventually decided to write about the importance of characters in King Lear who don’t have first or last names, just titles (like the fool and servants).  The topic ended up being okay, but I tend to hate these kind of papers.  This may sound like a really bad thing for an English major to say, but it makes sense to me because there are very few times when you can write an essay about something you actually care about, and I hate pretending to care about something.

My Best Recommendations for Manga and Anime

Since I have decided to only review finished anime and manga, I am going to make a little list of some (both ongoing and finished) that I highly recommend watching.  There won’t be anything on this list that I don’t highly endorse.  The first four are a list or recommendations for my roommate to see because I keep telling her to watch them but forgetting to write down which ones. I also may review a couple of these finished ones later. Continue reading

Special A Review

I am very excited to review this manga, because of all of the suggestions of manga I received this was by far my favorite.  It is a classic strong female character manga and I enjoyed every minute that I was reading it.  It definitely makes its way to the top of my favorites, close after Skip Beat and Ouran High School Host Club.
