I Am a Game-playing Machine

I am proud to say that I have finished six games since the beginning of winter break. This is honestly a big deal for me because I have probably only finished like 4 games total in my lifetime (excluding Harry Potter computer games). I always get distracted and never finish. So good job Kate! Let’s hope I can keep it up. Don’t want to disappoint your grand expectations. Because I know you care so much.

Enter Spring Semester

Hi all! I found some well-deserved time this weekend to finally write you a real blog post! Life has been really crazy, going straight from endless gaming to busy school days. I figured I’d update you on some of my thoughts and doings in the last couple of weeks as I begin to blog more often again.

I’m taking three English classes this semester, one Women’s Studies class, and one Biology class. The bottom line is that I’m going to be reading ALL THE TIME. My Feminist Thought class seems like it might be pretty hard, but I like the subject so I don’t mind too much. I have two interesting English lit. classes and one that focuses on the invention of the English Language (this was described as the “math” of English so I am a bit worried). I thought Bio would be my worst class, but at this point it seems like it might be the easiest to deal with.

Along with classes I’ll be working at the Entomology department databasing again and for the school newspaper. Omuraisu has gotten a job editing for the Opinion column, so I have been writing opinion pieces as well as Lifestyle pieces. My first opinion article involves Sarah Palin getting bashed at the Golden Globes and how stupid it was for conservatives to get mad over it. I got quite a few negative comments, which is honestly pretty cool because it meant people read it! (I also live in Kansas so I don’t really expect much political support).

Going back in time to break, I was mostly gaming and relaxing, because a girl needs that every now and then! I finished Xenoblade Chronicles, The Kingdom Hearts Series, and am now playing FFIX for the first time. I also finished up the anime series Tonari no Kaibutsu-kun, Say I Love You, Kamisama Hajimemashita, Code: Breaker, and Michiko to Hatchin. To make a long story short, the first three were worthwhile adaptations of great manga, the fourth was mediocre, and the last was really great. I will be reviewing Michiko to Hatchin and Xenoblade Chronicles sometime in the future.

There are two other pieces of big news. First, my friends and I have officially started our D&D game. If you hadn’t figured out what a nerd I am yet, there you go. I am new to D&D, and it is super fun! I play a Tiefling wizard named Latisha Slapabitch Silvereyes. Cause I’m cool like that. The best thing about D&D is the freedom to be goofy and imaginative and yourself. None of the people there are going to judge my excitement over the whole thing, which is awesome possum.

The last update is about my hair. I DYED A STRIP OF MY HAIR BLUE. I know this isn’t a big deal to some people, but I am a total coward and it is a huge deal to me. It looked pretty good plain bleached as well, so that was fun. The blue was really nice, but by now it has faded to a sea foam green. I ended up really loving it, so I expect to redo it soon!

Here ends the updates of the first week of Spring Semester. Things are going well, and the ideas are already pumping. I should be blogging a lot again. You have permission to bitch slap me in the face if I stop writing for a long time darlings. If you can get through my ninja skills.

The Happy Jar of 2013: I know someone in all of my classes!

A Stuffy End to the Week

I was going to give you guys a nice little recap of my week, but who comes in to ruin everything?  Oh, just a little beesh called nasal congestion and a sore throat.  I’ll try my best to talk about some real stuff, but this cold is killing me so expect this post to contain a lot of complaining.  I get colds a lot honestly and I never get used to it.  I am in misery and don’t want to talk to anyone.  Too bad the world doesn’t see it that way.  Now I’m just sitting here with my Luden’s Throat Drops and my jug of water trying to write a blog post that is less angry (and failing may I add).  At least after this I get to eat matzo ball soup, my favorite food.  Maybe it will ease the cold a bit.

I guess a good route to go is lows and highs.  The worst thing that I did this week besides homework was attending a College Republicans meeting for a class assignment.  I was honestly super disappointed in myself because I am apparently a less tolerant person than I thought because I wanted to scream at those conservatives (and they didn’t even TALK about social issues).  I wanted to get up and walk out at times because of the ignorance and inappropriate factual references.  I think that it’s important that I saw the differences between the parties but I could have done without the misery.  I guess my new weakness to work on is being tolerant of the people who are intolerant.  I can’t say that I’m an open-minded person without working on that honestly.  At least one of my besties went with me to assuage the pain.  Thanks W! Philosophy and Staying on the Bike

This week was incredibly busy and I have no idea how to fit all of the details into this update post! It was the first week of my sophomore year of college and things were incredibly busy.  It seems like Monday happened such a long time ago! I guess the first thing I can do is explain the above picture.  Thursday the leadership group I am involved with hosted a popsicle afternoon with puppies from the training center to pet.  The popsicles were so refreshing I had a ton of fun because I love this student group so much!  One of my really good friends is in this group and we got to eat lunch together that day as well.  She is so super fun and she gives me really sweet compliments all the time.  I’m looking forward to eating lunch with her every Thursday this semester! Hunger Games Injuries

This post is my first attempt at a weekly highlight, so let’s hope the trend continues!  I’ve been working a lot this week, and the only break in the monotony comes from buying groceries or school supplies.  I am actually super excited about my school supplies because I love fresh notebooks and folders.  I am also a huge fan of the planner because it lets me be super organized.  I even started color coding my events which is surprisingly relaxing.  I have been playing Xenoblade Chronicles in my free time this week as well as catching up on Faith and Naruto Shippuden episodes.  Don’t worry, my life wasn’t completely empty of social events because I had two parties this weekend!

Update: School is Out!

Hey followers, I know it has been a while, but things were really busy with dead week and finals.  I’ve had a lot of things I wanted to update on but I couldn’t find the time to write until now.  School is finally over and I can write whenever I want!  I made it through my freshman year and managed to keep my GPA up which seemed like quite a miracle!  I’m excited for all my summer projects and being able to have time to read and do all the things I want to.  I’ll go ahead and give some details on what’s coming up for me this summer!
